Hi, I'm John.  This blog is dedicated to a good father - my friend, Trusty Plummet - who always looks before he landsl and blogs his terror as he bounces from Boy Scout outings to Four-H archery to a clicking refrigerator full of suspiciously warm food.  I share his experiences as a public service to all of you out there who cannot laugh at your own lives - either because your trials are too weighty to use for entertainment purposes, or because you are just plain boring. You are people who don't attempt to hang-glide with your kid's kite, or use a garden hose as a safety restraint while working on the roof. You are men who heed your wives' warnings about roads your old mini-van can't navigate, and women who recognize that a twenty-four hour day shouldn't include more than about 18 hours of chores, service and activities.

You will learn what the other half feels like: those of us who got good grades but no idea what we wanted to be when we grew up. We like food and people but didn't learn table manners; we haven't planned yet what we're making for our kids' dinner tonight, but if someone else needs a meal, we can have one ready in an hour, tops. We love our kids most of the time, and can't wait for them to grow up and get out of our sometimes tidy but never decorated houses.

We are not so few, and not so proud. We are God's Jesters, in all our Ready, Fire, Aim glory, we are here to give you this good news: If you can't laugh at your life right now, you can laugh at ours!
